Overview

Mark-10 M4-1 Performance Digital Force Gauge

The Mark-10 M4-1 Performance Digital Force Gauge is a precision instrument designed for professional tension and compression force testing across a broad range of industrial and laboratory applications. Part of Mark-10's Series 4 platform, the M4-1 combines ±0.2% full-scale accuracy with a fast 3,000 Hz sampling rate and 1/2000 resolution for dependable force measurement under a wide variety of test conditions.

Designed to provide more advanced functionality than basic digital force gauges, the M4-1 incorporates onboard data storage, statistical calculations, programmable set points, multiple data interfaces, and flexible handheld or test stand operation. These capabilities make it suitable for quality control, manufacturing, product testing, assembly verification, and general force measurement applications.

Accurate Tension and Compression Measurement

The M4-1 measures both tension and compression forces with an accuracy of ±0.2% of full scale. Its 3,000 Hz sampling rate provides responsive measurement during changing loads, while 1/2000 resolution allows the gauge to distinguish fine changes in applied force.

Depending on model configuration, Series 4 gauges support lbF, ozF, gF, kgF, N, kN, and mN measurement units, providing flexibility for different testing environments and measurement requirements.

Clear Backlit Display

A large backlit graphics LCD displays measurement information using large, legible characters. Simple menu navigation provides quick access to the M4-1's measurement functions and configurable parameters, helping operators configure and perform tests efficiently.

An integrated analog load bar provides a graphical representation of applied force, giving users an additional visual reference while monitoring a test.

Onboard Data Storage and Statistical Analysis

The M4-1 includes onboard memory for storing up to 50 readings. Integrated statistical functions allow stored measurements to be evaluated directly through the gauge, while data can also be transferred to a connected PC or other compatible data collection equipment.

The included MESUR® Lite data acquisition software provides additional data collection capabilities. The software can tabulate continuous or single-point measurements and allows one-click export to Microsoft Excel for further analysis and reporting.

Set Points for Pass-Fail Testing

Three integrated set points with indicators provide convenient support for pass-fail testing. Defined force thresholds can be used to identify acceptable or unacceptable measurements and can also be used to trigger compatible external equipment.

The set-point outputs can interface with devices such as alarms, relays, or compatible test stands, providing additional flexibility for semi-automated and automated testing applications.

Multiple Data Output Options

The M4-1 provides several connectivity options for transferring measurement data and integrating the gauge with external equipment. USB and RS-232 interfaces support communication with computers and data collectors at configurable speeds up to 115,200 baud.

A Mitutoyo Digimatic interface provides compatibility with suitable Mitutoyo SPC-compatible devices. An analog output provides a voltage signal proportional to measured force, while general-purpose and set-point outputs provide additional options for connecting external equipment.

Handheld or Test Stand Operation

The M4-1 features an ergonomic, reversible aluminum housing that allows the gauge to be used as a handheld instrument or mounted to a compatible test stand. This makes it suitable for quick portable measurements as well as controlled testing where a test stand is used to maintain consistent loading conditions.

The Series 4 gauge is directly compatible with Mark-10 test stands, grips, attachments, and software, allowing the M4-1 to be incorporated into a broader force testing system.

Overload Protection

The M4-1 is protected against loads up to 200% of full scale. When force reaches 110% of capacity or higher, the display shows an overload indication, helping operators identify potentially excessive loading during testing.

Professional Force Testing Performance

The M4-1 operates from AC power or a rechargeable battery. A multi-step low-battery indicator helps monitor remaining power, and the gauge automatically shuts down when battery power becomes too low for continued operation. Battery life is rated for up to 7 hours with the backlight enabled or up to 24 hours with the backlight disabled.

With precision measurement, 3,000 Hz sampling, onboard data storage, statistical functions, programmable set points, multiple output interfaces, and flexible mounting options, the Mark-10 M4-1 Performance Digital Force Gauge provides a versatile solution for professional tension and compression testing.
